Thermoflagger™ is an IC that can be used in conjunction with a PTC thermistor to detect abnormal heat output from an electronic device.
The resistance of a PTC thermistor is almost constant near room temperature. However, the resistance rises rapidly when the temperature increases and exceeds the detected temperature. Therefore, the thermistor is used to protect against overheating. Thermoflagger™ detects a resistive change in the PTC thermistor and inverts it if it overheats. Thermoflagger™ uses a circuit to detect resistive changes by constantly supplying a minute constant current to the PTC thermistor, allowing several PTC thermistors to be connected in series. As a result, it is possible to detect the temperature at any position in the electronic equipment. If you want to change the detected temp. at each position, it can be easily done by changing the PTC thermistor.
