Function to suppress inrush current

Function to suppress inrush current

When the output is turned on, the charging current flows through the output capacitor. If this current is too large, the overcurrent protection circuit may malfunction, making it impossible to start up, or the output voltage may overshoot. This function restricts the current flowing through the output capacitor to prevent this. Toshiba eFuse IC can reduce the inrush current by using an adjustable slew rate control function with an external capacitance.

The larger the output capacitor and the higher the input voltage, the higher the inrush current. This large inrush current may cause failure. In that case, it is effective to keep the inrush current low by the slew rate control function. Our eFuse IC can adjust the slew rate of the output voltage with a small external capacitance, which simplifies the design of circuits that suppress the inrush current.
