Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation to Boost Automotive Semiconductor Solutions Business

TOKYO--Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation (TDSC) today announced that it is establishing an organization that will formulate strategies for the automotive semiconductor solutions and promote strengthened cooperation across business units. The Automotive Solutions Strategic Planning Division will start operation on October 1, and support TDSC in expanding sales of automotive semiconductor by 50% over the four fiscal years to March 2021.

Until now, TDSC business units doing business in automotive semiconductors have formulated their own business plans and technology road maps. The Automotive Solutions Strategic Planning Division, which will report directly to the president, will integrate their strategies and product planning. The division will also provide comprehensive customer support, including proposals for total solutions.

Yoshiki Hayakashi, who will head the new division as its general manager, said: “We supply a many products, including the Visconti™ image recognition processor, analog ICs and power devices, all of which contribute to improved fuel consumption, lower emissions and enhanced safety—and to the development of next generation e-vehicles and driverless cars. The new division will support enhanced product promotion, and allow us to boost our presence around the world.”

The current global market for automotive semiconductors, about 34 billion dollars, is expected to reach some 45 billion dollars in 2022[1]. TDSC will continue to provide its clients with total solutions in automotive semiconductor business, and aims to realize robust growth.
