Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation ("Toshiba") has launched "CLS10F40," a small, low forward voltage Schottky barrier diode suitable for voltage booster circuits of white LED backlights for LCDs (liquid crystal displays) used in mobile devices.

LCDs used in mobile devices often use white LEDs as the light sources for backlights. To drive the white LEDs stably, the voltage supplied by the battery needs to be boosted up.
The new product CLS10F40 is used for the rectification of the voltage booster circuits and features a reverse voltage of 40 V and an average forward current of 1 A, supporting an increased number of white LEDs. Its excellent characteristics include both its maximum forward voltage of 0.45 V[1] and maximum leakage current of 25 μA[2], contributing to higher efficiency and lower power consumption of voltage booster circuits. In addition, it is mounted in the small CL2E package (1.0×0.6 mm), contributing to smaller printed circuit boards.

CLS10F40 has reduced its forward voltage by about 17 % compared to the conventional product CBS10F40, and its mounting area has been reduced by about 60 %. Even among products in our lineup, this product can contribute to lower power consumption and smaller printed circuit boards in a well-balanced way.
